"My life has been dedicated to public service, not for personal gain or ambition, but rather to serve those in need. My elected and appointed public service has always been on a volunteer basis even though it may have meant personal sacrifice. I am not and will not be a career politician, but rather I view serving as your Congressman as a calling to serve the needs of all residents in this district. I believe that reform is needed to return our government to that which the founders had designed and intended."

"I am committed to applying my experience to supporting our troops, assuring tax cuts and a strong economy, reducing the size and cost of government, aiding older adults, advocating for elder health care, advancing alternate fuels, respecting the rights of the unborn and serving citizens of our district."

"I believe that what is important is that the citizens of the 5th Congressional District have the right individual with the experience to lead and readiness to serve." Thompson's desire to serve is evident in his body of work. A 25 year firefighter and EMT, and Scout Master, Thompson is aware of the benefits of volunteerism, the importance of accessible healthcare, and what that means to folks in rural communities. A faithful husband, his wife Penny and grown sons Parker, Logan, and Kale are a great source of pride for the Congressman. As a 26 year Therapist / Rehab Services manager in Lycoming County, GT has touched the lives of over 10,000 people facing life altering or debilitating problems. He has been seen carrying the current version of the Healthcare Bill around in a grocery shopping bag. "I’ve read it…every page of it."
